These tools are here to help students slow down and think about the method before rushing to an answer.
Tool 1
Study Planner
Use this to break a topic into small study sessions.
Plan: A clear breakdown will appear here.
Tool 2
Method Reminder
This quick guide reminds students what to do when they feel stuck.
Read the story: what is the question really asking?
Choose the method: identify the correct idea before calculating.
Show the reason: do not skip the logic.
Check the answer: make sure it fits the situation.
1. The Four Isometries
Simple explanation: This section explains the geometry ideas slowly and clearly so students can understand both the picture and the reason.
An isometry (rigid transformation) preserves shape and size.
Translation: Sliding an object. (Every point moves by the same vector).
Axial Symmetry: Reflection across a line.
Central Symmetry: Reflection through a point (rotation by 180°).
Rotation: Turning an object around a fixed point (center of rotation).
2. Non-Rigid Transformations
Simple explanation: This section explains the geometry ideas slowly and clearly so students can understand both the picture and the reason.
Enlargement: Changing size based on a scale factor (k). If k > 1, the object grows. If 0 < k < 1, it shrinks.
Examiner Tip
💡 Examiner Tip: For any transformation question, always choose a key point (like a vertex of a triangle) to track carefully. If the vertex moves correctly, the rest of the shape will follow.
Exam Trap
⚠️ Exam Trap: When doing an enlargement, students often forget to apply the scale factor to the distance from the *center of enlargement*, not just the size of the shape itself!
📝 Exam Style Questions
Simple explanation: This section explains the geometry ideas slowly and clearly so students can understand both the picture and the reason.
EasyQ1: What property of an object is preserved during an isometry?
MediumQ2: Describe the difference between Axial Symmetry and Central Symmetry.
A1: Both shape and size (distance/length) are preserved.
A2: Axial Symmetry is a reflection across a mirror line. Central Symmetry is a reflection through a specific point, equivalent to a 180° rotation about that point.
