2. Body Systems Overview

Transport

Circulatory, lymphatic and digestive systems move materials around the body.

Control

Nervous and endocrine systems coordinate fast and slow responses.

Protection

Immune, skeletal and skin barriers help defend and support the body.

Biology link: Systems do not work alone. For example, digestion supplies glucose, breathing supplies oxygen, and blood transports both for respiration.

3. Circulatory System: Blood

5. Heart and Double Circulation

The heart is a muscular pump with four chambers: right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium and left ventricle. Valves prevent backflow.
